Here is the Lower Transition Zone, which is basically the valley floor. This
is where the fallen trees breakdown very quickly, adding a lot of loam to
the forest floor. As a result, you see more Western Hemlocks, Western
Red Cedars, Douglas Firs, Sitka Spruce and Grand Firs. Also the
Bigleaf Maples and Vine Maples start putting out new growth about this
time of year.

In the image, you can see the almost iconic indicator of being in the
Lower Transition Zone because of the tall hucklberry plants, as well as
the heavy growth on old stumps from fallen trees.

Good light here. A little movement here and there because of the
onshore push of a cold front.

Very small degree of USM applied at 1/15/1 to try to make the smaller
leaves show up. Any more sharpening than that, would make things look
"pasted" rather than "dimensional".

Looks better when larger. Confused

I love the soft trasitions among the greens, the fine details on the leaves.
