Hello!

I have just bought a Telemegor 5.5/400 today at the bay to try long distance shots. After buying - very wise Embarassed - I recognized, that there is no adapter for Praktica on FourThirds (I use E3 and E510)... But I saw some photos here in the forum - so anyhow it shoud be makeable...

Please can you help me?!

Thanks,
Mo

You can get PB (Praktica Bayonet) mount to EF (EOS) mount adapter, and
can get EF to m4/3 adapter together you can use PB mount lens on m4/3.

Or, you can get PB -> m4/3 adapter from KIPON. I remember HK300 sells
PB->m4/3 adapter too (but he is no longer here ??).

I think you meant Praktica is Praktica Bayonet mount lens.
Or you mean Prkatica mount = (popular) M42 mount in other word
Pentax mount.

Which? You have to be more precise to describe your problem in here.

The reason is there are so many subtle differences among them, and no one
want to spend time Q?A, Q?A, Q?A, so on.

Sorry for being a bit blunt, welcome to here.... Very Happy

Hi,

not sure whether it is a good idea to use this lens with a 4/3 or m4/3 cam.

Anyway he is looking for an adapter for 4/3 and not m4/3.

I'm 99% sure the lens in question is a Praktica M42 mount Smile

His cameras are 4/3 mount ones (I missed), so it is easy to get
M42 mount to 4/3 adapter at eBay. It costs from $19.99 and up.

Hi,
Have you check this out? The universal adapter seems to be able to adapt Praktica B to 4/3 (not micro 4/3) and maintain infinity focus. It even has the Dandeliion autofocus confirmation chip.

I'm contemplating of getting one. I have a Carl Zeiss Jena 3.5/135 MC which takes beautiful and sharp photos but it currently is mounted on a Fotodiox PK to 4/3 which doesn't really fit (it needs a piece of duct tape to keep it in place). It's also slighly thicker than the flange to focal distance (by about 1mm) and I cannot reach infinity focus (but anything closer is in focus....)

I made my own PB to 4/3 adapter from a Pentax K adapter and the female flange from a PB teleconverter. It wasn't difficult.

I used it on a 35-70 zoom bought for the cheap lens challenge.

Are you able to achieve inifinity focus?
(from the picture, it looks like you grinded down the adapter ring to get
the back of the lens closer to the camera - is that right?). It needs about ~1mm or so.

Yes, it allows infinity focus.

By a remarkable coincidence, the combined thickness of PB flange from the teleconverter and the 4/3 adapter body (i.e. the black aluminium bit) was just about right, so I didn't have to modify the seating face in the adapter. I had to grind away the rim (to allow the thinner PB flange to stand proud) and the inside of the adapter body (to allow the lens to fit in). I went too far with the latter and broke through at the should of the 4/3 bayonet - you can see a grey line in the picture next to the locking pin recess for the 4/3 mount where I repaired it with filler.

The PB flange also had the same screw hole locations as the adapter, so no modification was needed there either. The locking pin was in fractionally different place so I just enlarged the hole on the adapter and did a bit more grinding to get the locking release tab to fit.

If I were to do this again I would use a lathe to machine the rim and inside of the adapter. But the job can be done with nothing more than a hobbyist's rotary tool.

I did this to use a PB 50mm f2.4 pancake lens, which turned out to be merely adequate due to the very busy (ugly) bokeh wide open. The zoom pictured is the only other PB lens I have.
