Finally after 32 days I received m42 ring for my Sony this is what I manage to do today. Nothing special comparing to some shots iv have seen here but I'm learning Smile

Helios-44M

8 blades, glass is perfect clean and bright as hell Smile this is my fav lens so far <3

Photax 2,8 135mm

Damaged inside! Whole glass is little bit loose but working good. Sometimes it's stucking when manual focusing - just need put some more strength Wink

PS: no additional pp was done to the photos, just few corrections like contras and brightens.

Nice shots, and you are doing nothing wrong...it's that the Helios lens/lenses have been "over done" here and nothing suprises us anymore. The Photax 135mm doesn't look very sharp on my monitor and you can compare your results with the Meyer/Pentacon 135mm (or other 135mm lenses) in other threads.

That what I was thinking posting Helios shots Smile
About photax you know whole mechanism inside of the lens it's all loose! And I mean it :] need to hold camera and lens really still other wise tube inside will just move Smile this giving me some practice of how to not shake camera during picture Smile
Was wondering witch 75mm or 85mm is best and cheep to buy now for cannon mkII / sony a300

Yes, so many people have tested the Helios now, I have 6 different copies of the 44, I like the 44-2 for it's bokeh, but the 44M-4 is a little sharper and slightly betetr contrast from more modern coatings but I love all my copies...

The Photax looks okay, the first shot of the TV aerials looks good, nice contrast and is quite sharp. The last shot of the tree however looks a bit soft.

2.8/135 and 3.5/135 lenses are very common and cheap, you can't go wrong with a Russian Jupiter-11A, I love mine. The Pentacon 2.8/135 and Carl Zeiss 3.5/135 are both still quite cheap and excellent.

Ah well but people can't learn much from a lens that is not working properly Wink
As for 85mm lenses it all depends on how deep is your pocket and it might be cheaper to get a zoom (if you are not a pixel peeper you can still take great shots with one).
