I got a Pentax 135mm lens with m42 mount. When I try to screw the m42 to 4/3 adapter on it, it doesn't screw all the way and the lens doesn't focus to infinity. I read that that's common because it's a wrong kind of adapter, that there are flanged and non flanged. But I can't tell the difference between the two. Can anyone show me the photo of a different adapters?

I rather believe you got a lens with T mount which is looks like M42 but screw type is different.

+1. The T2 mount has finner threads with same diameter as M42 mount.

Can you please identify it? Smile

It should be a pentacon electric 135 2.8 M42 lens..... Is there any damage to the threads?

Nope, they look quite good. The same thing happened to me with the Super Takumar 50mm, also m42. It screws to a half, and just stops. Helios and Cosina cause no problems.

It is very difficult to get a bad copy of a M42 adaptor. I think you can return it to the seller.

Bah, I'll keep it for the Cosina I use. I'd just like to get a good adapter so this doesn't happen again. If it's really the cause of the problem.

Any M42 should works well with most M42 lens...... Do you think the aperture pin on your lens interfer with the adaptor?

I don't believe so. If the pin was stuck, the screw would stop immidiately, but it doesn't - I can turn it around a little more. It's just like there's something wrong with the screw. I'm just sorry that it happens with some lenses, and not with the others so I can't be positive where's the problem. I'll have to meet someone who's got an m42 adapter so they try mounting the lens...

I think this will be the best way to see if there is quality issus on your adaptor if you don't have any M42 camera.

I'm really an idiot Very Happy I tried the lens on my Zenit and it screws in just fine...So it's definitely an adapter Smile But I don't know what's the solution - would the same adapter fit or would it be the same. Shocked

I think you get a bad copy of adaptor. Buy another one and try it again.

Can anyone show me what does an m42->4/3 adapter look with and withot the flange?
I know what does flange literally mean, but can't figure out what part of adapter is that. A picture would help a lot. Very Happy

Flange looks like this what you can see on other type of adapter.

If the flange is the problem you can always widen it a bit: 1-2 mm more will do.
You just need a drill and small mounted grinding stone (don't know if i say it properly in English).Looks like this :

This is how the adapter looks after the modification:

It's not, my adapter doesn't have it. I somehow don't think I'll be able to use this lens, even if I do order another adapter. :/

I do have a similar issue with a factory-made Rollei - M42 adapter:

It works ok with the vast majority of my M42 lenses but refuses to screw-in 100% on one particular telephoto. When I try to mount other M42 adapters on the "problematic" lens (like Miranda or Konica AR, both factory-made too) I have no issue at all. Isn't this strange or what?

That's encouraging, thank you Smile Well, I'll buy a new adapter...The problem is that I'm impatient and it'll travel a month for sure from Hong Kong. Very Happy

Typical shipping from HK looks like this:

Seller in HK sit on for a week to collect enough orders.
Shipping is fast 3-5 days.
Customs sit on it 3 days.
So hopefully it will be over there less

I know, I have ordered a few things from there. The fastest one to arrive was here in 2 weeks, the slowest a month and a half.
