This just arrived. It's supposed to be one of the great canon rangefinder lenses. Mint, they run 450-650 sometimes higher. I paid 315.
The seller originally listed it as "for parts" because of the scratch, then relisted at 499. I did not expect what came.
It is in extremely good condition except:
this in an interior element. It appears to be the only mark on the glass anywhere. Foucs and aprerture are very good.
overcast today, but here we go anyway:
have you seen enough cats yet?
this is wide open
there should be a fine for posting cat pictures, hehe

no pp, straight out of this:
Tried shooting into the bright part of the sky, but not really the day for flare test.

I've had that cat since he was a kitten, now he's 13---yow. Outside cat too, amazing he has survived.
I took my first look at this lens at the PO and could not believe it. I saw the scratch and LOLed. I am so lucky. Makes up for all those times I've overpaid,
Now here it is in real battlefield conditions--very dim, wide open 1/60 ISO 800

this is handheld. Pretty damn impressive to me. _________________ Making MFlenses safe for the letter *L*

Wow, brilliant!
I have no NEX yet, so I'm still shooting film with my Canon IIIa rangefinder and Canon LTM lenses, but my experiences have been similar to yours regarding overall sharpness, contrast, and color fidelity.

I need to read the sigs---did not realise you had an RF. I bow to film shooters in general, and to RF film shooters especially.
I'm now obviously obssessed with the Canon RF lenses---well, those not in the stratosphere like the 35 1.5 or the 35 2.
I just put together a respectable set of CVs: 21, 28, 2 35s and the 75 2.5---all 300 and less, except the 35 1.4 I indulged in the other nite. They are very liquid too.
Think of that: a small 35mm 1.4! Sure I lust after the monster 1.2, and the 50 1.1--but they are pricey and huge.
You have the incredible 1.8, some think it's the sharpest of all the Canon 50's. They are a total steal at the going rate of 150.
This little site is so enticing:
http://www.antiquecameras.net/canonrflens.html
When I saw a decent 50 1.4 at RFF for 300, I just took it (about 25 high)and found a 1.8 for good measure, partly because of the great thread here a few weeks ago.
And of course I got drunk and paid double for the fantastic little 100 3.5.
That thing is icnredible---unmatched today as size/weight/quality package as far as i tell except maybe for flare.
That put me in deep water, then I found that 85 1.9 silver piece of art: a complete steal at 178USD.
Now this 100 f/2
a rusty 50 1.2 on the way.
and.........you remember the 85 1.8 which came up here two weeks ago? I happened to catch it right after listing at FM--Ryan was nice and took a fair price--good profit for him, hehe.
It comes tomorrow.
Then I must be out of money.
With 7 Canon Rangefinder Lenses in the bank. _________________ Making MFlenses safe for the letter *L* |

If I was you I'd give that lens away to a deserving pauper, because the scratch on the optics obviously affects the images unacceptably.
