Guys, I've just acquired this clean vopy of the Orestor 2.8/135 15-blade lens and it looks very nice but it was described as being M42 thread mount and isn't. The mount has 3 shallow lugs.

From these not very good photos taken late last night with my mobile phone please can you help me identify the mount? I'm hoping to be able to keep it and find an adapter to Canon EF.

Iaza,

Did you like it? Did you use it with an adapter or on an exacts mount camera?

I like it, but I like trioplan 100/2,8 more.
I used it in EOS cam with exakta-eos adapter I got from ebay seller named big_is. Excellent lens.
I used it too in my Exakta IIb film camera.

You can buy exakta-eos adapter for your camera + this exakta mount is interchangable this lens come with M42 mount too. Pentacon 200mm zebra lens has same mount if you can buy one with an M42 mount (pretty common)
you can use M42 mount for both lenses.

Thanks guys,

The mount is quite small in diameter so may I just double check with you?

The internal diameter of the mount is approximately 33mm, external diameter across the lugs 37.5mm and the slightly broader step between the lugs and the rear face of the body 37.83mm.

Exakta? For certain please?

The price of an AF-confirm adapter might just spoil this but I want to be sure before deciding,

Thanks in advance

This lens made with two type of mounts Exakta and M42. This is Exakta.

+1

I would do exactly what Attila has already suggested...buy a beaten up / broken Pentacon 200/4 with M42 mount and swap the mounts (the ring around the outside just screws off).

Thanks Attila and ManualFocus-G More purchases! Laughing

I better suggest to buy an adapter exa-eos. You can buy other exa lenses, then use the adapter. Usually, exa lens is lot cheaper than M42.

Yes, but the best bargains are the wide lenses e.g. CZJ Flektogon. However, Exa lenses won't focus to infinity on a Canon, which means no landscapes will be possible.

That's doesn't matter to my EOS 1000D. I have meyer lydith in exa mount. 30/3,5 good for landscape & got infinity in my EOS. other lenses in exa and reach infinity ; trioplan, orestor, pancolar, tessar
I can give samples later.

Tis a funny thing you know but wide MF lenses don't do much for me. Probably reflecting that I don't do a huge amount of wide photography through the winter. I have two @ 28mm and a thirty-five which rarely gets out.

Fiftys are huge fun and otherwise I look at 135's and occasional other lengths - always primes. I've just picked up a Sigma Z 400 f/5.6 which won't infinity focus on the 5D with a glass-less adapter but does so with a "glazed" adapter.

For when I want wide I grab my 16-35L!

Would be very interested in seeing those and teh adapter as I've never come across one that works to infinity before!

Alright here the samples
Meyer lydith infinity
after flood

Meyer Trioplan infinity

I tried 2 kind of adapter, first I got from my friend which he bought from rainbowimaging ebay seller. 2nd is from big_is which I use now. Both reach infinity. I haven't tak picture of adapters. You cansearch in ebay.
I recommend one from big_is; its thicker and not easy to loose than the 1rst one.

The adapter came, it causes mirror clash on the 5DII but I've just put it on the 1DII and run through the entire focal length range without a blip. Result!! If it doesn't rain tomorrow I'll run some test shots through it.
Thanks again guys.

I had the same problem once.

Bought Meyer 135/2.8, tried on 5D and the Exakta black protruded ring hit the mirror. Until one day I bought Pentacon 135/2.8, the exact copy of Meyer 138/2.8 with M42 mount.

And like Attile said, I found that the rear 'hood-like' part of both Exakta & M42 lens could be interchanged. So I put the M42 'hood' of the Pentacon to my Meyer and sold the Pentacon (with Exakta mount) Smile
