I got very lucky
it has been upgraded to m8.2 spec and the dealer sold it as a vanilla m8
I just recieved this msg from leica USA
"Yes it had the shutter sapphire glass and mask in 2008. Thank you
Regards
Sarah Mayville"
so I am assuming mask is the brighter viewfinder lines?
oh they also gave me 2 free uv/ir filters and a copy of Adobe Lightroom
and next day air shipping for 2400$! _________________ Stormtrooper white Pentax K-X m42 adapter

You did well. Congrats on your ne RF
The shutter upgrade is quieter but one stop slower at 1/4000.
Mask is not brighter but rather optimized for a longer close focus distance.
I personally prefer the original shutter and framelines in my first m8 but, would not know the difference if I never tried the later.
Careful with that sapphire glass screen. Contrary to Leica claims. It will scratch and or break like any other. |

good news: camera will be here within 2 hours
bad news : lenses arrive Friday , lol
first order of business when I get the lenses is to go visit my dad, he always wanted a Leica when he was younger and couldnt afford one ( 6-10 weeks pay back then) , and now that he is starting to get a little wonky in his old age, ( 72) I wanted to give him a chance to actually use one before his acuity decreased too much
Then Ill let me 7 year old have a go , unless shed rather take shots with my iphone! the 3 year old will have to wait however.
cheers all! _________________ Stormtrooper white Pentax K-X m42 adapter
