I promised atilla a moon shot with my monster 1100mm MTO, but the weather hasn't played ball for the moon - so here is the sun instead.

Focus is difficult....

100 crop. I think thats a sun spot, rather than filth on the sensor....

with rubbish 2x TC....

100 crop, Yes definitely a sun spot.

But what are we really seeing?
2200mm....

1100mm....

400/5.5 silver MOG bazooka....

Standard 50/1.8 MOG. That's the pony, right in the middle there Smile

Apart from the 50mm, all shot off the tripod with mirror lock up, 2 sec timer and remote release.

Hi Martin,
what strong and dense filter did you use to shoot the sun ?

Still looking further for your moon shots with this lens.
I imagine its look is very different from the lens in your avatar... Very Happy

Hi Olivier - yes slightly bigger than the industar Smile

The solar filter was a sheet of Baader film available for example HERE

Comes with instructions to make a filter the same size as your lens. Very effective and far less expensive than the next step up HERE

Thank you for the filter tip.
It's far cheaper than the other solution. Smile

Thanks for pointing the pony in the last one Martyn.
Had some difficulties finding him. Very Happy

P.S. OK, don't bother, I've seen the post, my glasses were dirty.

I think I see a sunspot on that 2nd frame. Maybe sunspot 1166 or 64 depending when you made the snap?

edit: I just noticed you made reference to it Embarassed
