This was the 55 1.2 that I had to re-do the AI conversion after a camera shop butchered it for me. Nikon has 3 1.2 normal lenses and this one is supposed to be the dog...

Well, do you all think it is a dog???

I have the 50mm f/1.2 Ai-S and I find it a difficult lens to work with, like we weren't made for each other.
Aside our personal problems, she leaves me contrasless wide open. I see a similar low softness in your photos. I wouldn't call it a dog for that though.

I don't see any problems on the pix. Softness doesn't disturb, if any.

I use my copy ( 1.2 5O ais ) both on film and digital. No problems whatsoever, even when shooting wide open : )

Which version do you have? I have the old Nikkor-S Auto 55mm 1:1.2 Nippon Kogaku Japan No. 207355 version and I think its quite an amazing lens. When properly exposed it is surely a dog.
