Hi guys and girlies!
I think i have hit a mini motherload -
I have been fortunate enough to acquire pristine beyond belief Zeiss glass - here is the listing as it were sent to me...
There are 3 lenses:
1) Contax 55mm~L39 (UV) MC Carl Ziess Sonnar 2.8/85
2) Hoya 67mm~Skylight (1B) Carl Ziess Distagon 1.4/35
3) Contax 55mm~L39 (uv) MC Carl Ziess Sonnar 2.8/135
Including:
2 Cameras:
1) Minolta with lens Vivitar Skylight Filter 55~MC Rokkor-PF 1:14 f+58mm
2) Contax with lens Contax 55mm L39 (UV) MC Carl Ziess Planar 1.4/50
Lets just say - I got it for almost NOTHING - I repeat, I paid not much more than the cost of the MINOLTA Rikkor 50 f 1.4 ALONE.. for ALL 5 lenses and the 2 cameras...
*i am not bragging, I am just so excited that I don't have the best luck in the world, and things have been reallly difficult as of late - so pleaes don't think that I am being a jerk by sharing this*
I honestly thought I would have NEVER in my lifetime own any Zeiss at all - so this is a huge deal for me!
Now '
Mind you, I dont know if the Zeiss glass goes to the Contax / the Minolta / OR neither..
I am going to ASSume that it goes to the Contax, only reason being that the Contax already has a Zeiss on it, AND these are very old, so I can't imagine there was a mount back in the day for Zeiss to fit on Minoltas.
Because it also was to my understanding that there was not Zeiss Minolta.
My question is this. I have a CANON 50D..
Will the regular ol' contax/yashica adapter mount with the electronic chip FOR Canon EOS - pose any problems for me.
From my understanding, several of the Zeiss lenses, with Canon 5D, there are occassionally weird fits with adapters, but it seems to only be with a few of the lenses, and none of the ones that I have acquired were listed as being problematic. BUT - again, is that a camera issue? OR a lens issue? or a Canon / adaptor / lens issue. remember, I have a 50D.
Any and all information would be wonderful .
thanks guys!!!!!!
*and yes, I have seen the AF Contax Yashica to Canon Eos adapters* I just dont know if they are all the same? (With the acception of I am certain a 90$ mount is better than a 10$ mount.. OR is it?)
And don't forget! I need to know about Minolta mounts for Canon 50D as well - I know there are mounts out there on ebay, I've been sent a link to a couple - but I just need to know if there may be any issues I should be made aware of.
Thank you everyone very much -

Congratulations for the bargain of the year!!
C/Y-EOS-Adapters generally work fine with the 50D.
There are two types (at least), some show a "CO/Y-EOS" on the rim, others a "C/Y-EOS".
Sometimes there can be problems with how steady the lens is mounted on the adapter, ask Orio about it! _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

You are very lucky to get all those lenses.
Since the package comes with a Contax and Minolta body, why don't you run a roll of film on each bodies first?
The Rokkor is MC/MD mount and you will need a MC/MD to EOS adapter to be able to use it on your Canon 50D.
As for the Contax lenses, there should be no problem to be used on your cropped body as long as you can the correct CY to EOS adapter. _________________

Minolta Sr-mount lens such as Rokkor-PF 58/1.4 cannot be used to
EF mount Canon EOS dSLRs without either changing its mount or modifying
the lens to EF mount. So forget to use MC/MD lens(es) on EOS 50D
for now, just enjoy film with them. Those MD-EOS adapter normally has
a correction lens in order to achieve infinity focus, but the result will be
not a great I suspect.
For Contax lenses you got can be easily adapted to EOS 50D without
worry, since your camera is using APS-C size sensor. Get a CO/Y-EOS
adapter, its price will be $15 to $50 with/without AF confirmation chip.
There isn't too much difference among high-end and low-end adapters
AFAIK, if they have truly even thickness.
