I bought a strange looking lens from ebay a few days ago. Today it got in, but I have no idea what to do with it.
This is the lens:

It is an M42 lens, but it is possible to change the aperture from F2.8 to F16, but no focus ring. For use on my Nex it is basically useless.
The seller says "Unknown lens, i think it is a kind of bellows lens."
Now I only paid a small amount for this lens and I was curious to what it was. Otherwise it is going in the collection. |

Link doesn't work for me. But if there's no helicoid then I agree in thinking that it's a bellows lens. _________________ Graham - Moderator

Yes it should bellows enlagering lens. You need extra helicoid. It is possible to buy. Then I suppose that focal lenght will be between 50 and 100mm. Maybe it is sharp glass who knows _________________ Shoot on analog mainly with

I dunno but could it be some kind of optical Telescope adapter, possibly homemade?
...If so, then the slot in the side of the sleeve might allow the sleeve to contract slightly when mounting on the telescopes focussing tube thus ensuring a snug fit and then perhaps an M42 mount camera would fit onto the other end? |

I think its a back part of a lens.
See that big line in the front ? The the focusing mechanism "rides" in it. So your missing the first bit. No idea what lens it is.... _________________ The future is analogue.

Thank you for all of your reactions.
My first reaction was that it was half a lens, but the inner part with the lens is M42 as well (I tried it with an adapter). The line on the other hand would normally be for the focusing mechanism.
So it is possibly either for a bellow, or more intriguing, for a telescope.
I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow, but first tonight I'll celebrate New Years Eve with my family.
Happy new year everyone! |
