Leica Telyts??

I have a couple of questions about the Leica Telyts like the 560 and 40mm lenses. Firstly, about the pistol grip system, does it incorporate a focus mechanism in the grip? The second question is how does the grip work if it controls the focussing? Is it purely mechanical or rely on battery driven motors.

They are focused through the grip - with very simple mechanics. The barrel is spring-loaded and the spring squeezed by the grip - full press is infinity, fully loose is whatever proximal distance the maximum extension extension gives for the focal length of each head.
