I've used a lot of different (mf) lenses in the past. Most of them occasionally give very good results, for example the Vivitar S1 28-85/2.8, the Rikenon XR 50/2.0 and the Takumar 35/2.0.
Some lenses however, are consistently great performers in my opinion: the results never seem to disappoint! Here are a few of my personal favorites:
- Tokina AT-X 90/2.5 macro
- Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 AI-s
- Tokina 17mm f/3.5 SL
I'm curious about your opinions! |

I agree.
From my collection the most constant performers are:
* Leica Summicron 2/50
* Nikkor-H 1.8/85
* Leica Elmar 4/180
But I have several other lenses that almost always perform very well and if they don't give a nice shot, chances are high that it was my fault. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

So far, the ones I would call consistent performers are:
M42 mount:
Helios-44
Jupiter 11A, Jupiter 37A
Super-Takumar 50/1.4
Tamron adaptall-2 mount:
SP 90/2.5 macro
The main weaknesses I find in other lenses are sharpness wide open and vulnerability to CA. _________________ http://www.ipernity.com/home/2419272
