I lean towards the 100mm Orestor. Is the Exakta one better than the M42 ? _________________ Cheers , Teo

Both lenses share same optical design, they shall perform same. The older zebra Oreston has perfectly circular 14 blades aperture, whilst newer Pentacon version only six. Due to this the Orestor has smoother bokeh stopped-down. _________________ .: APO-Maniac :. |

My favourite is the Fujinon, I have the older non-EBC and recently got an EBC version too, but did not have time to use it yet. _________________ My galleries

100mm orestor is VERY sharp lens if you don't get a bad copy. If you prefer softer lenses for portraits, the 135mm orestor/pentacon would be the right choice. _________________ (almost) complete list of Helios lenses |

Attila: I didn't know, that zebra auto version exists. The 14 blades aperture has this older version with aperture ring on the front.

I have the Orestor 100mm, it's very good, but I find myself using my Sankor made 105mm f/2.5 way more.
It's sharp with lovely creamy bokeh, and very easy to operate.
Here is my thread if you wanna have a look.
It usually sells for +/- 50$ and comes under different names like Spiratone, Seriese, Lennon, Aetna etc. _________________ Lars | Manuellfokus.no |
