I don't know the Vivitar 1.9/28.
But I do know the Vivitar 2/28 and a Vivitar 1.9/35.
The Viv 2/28 is good on fullframe and excellent on APS crop.
The Viv 1.9/35 is a little better on fullframe (edges) but not as good as the 2/28 on crop. The 2/28 is generally sharper than the 1.9/35.
At least my copies are.
I can recommend both lenses. _________________ Personal forum activity on pause every now and again (due to job obligations)!

I believe the 28/1.9 is the Series 1 lens, but I've never seen a direct comparison of it and the 'regular' 28/2. When the Series 1 family was introduced, the range was claimed to be pretty much state-of-the-art.
I did have a 28/2 some years ago which performed well on film. _________________ Stephen

I think that the Viv 28/2 is sharper, specially wide open, but there is some CA, but at f/2.8 is gone, and the sharpness stopped down is stunning.
I'll post later a comparison I made with both lenses _________________ Ivan Lee Barcellos - Director of Photography

Hey!
The Vivitar 28/2 CF is close in sharpness to the Minolta, but the Minolta is even sharper wide open and is much better on the CA department
The same scene with the Minolta:

yeah, the Minolta focus only to 0.3m (I think it's the norm for most 28mm lenses), and the Viv focus to 0.23m _________________ Ivan Lee Barcellos - Director of Photography
