I came across this at the bottom of a pile of M42 lenses I was sorting, stuck it on the Pany L1 and took some ad-hoc pot shots in very challenging light (I could not see the focus confirm light so I had to do my best with the small focus screen) and was surprised by the outcome. These are 100% crops of unr-etouched originals..

Very nice Doug. The Accura Diamatic lenses were made by Sigma.
They were available in YS or native mounts.

They were also available thru JC penney as the JC Penney Diamatic.
So far I can only find them in native mount. I'm looking for a YS version
if they were ever made.

Thanks!

they were just grab shots I wanted to see if it even took a decent picture.. I am a bit confused though.. is it the Penny version you want in Y/S or?? This one is ok, it has a few blemishes ('cleaning marks' in the coating but it works perfectly Smile

Doug.

Yes, I was looking for JC Penney Diamatic in YS mount. I really don't think they ever made one, but you never know.
There is so little info on web on JC Penney lenses.

New user here, I was looking for information on the accura diamatic in a google search and came upon this thread. I am willing to part with mine fo the cost of shipping. It is a 28mm f=2.8 in workable shape. I have nothing in it and it's condition keeps me from asking for any money for it.
Let me know...

Truly beautiful images. I have an Accura Diamatic 28mm f2.8 lens (M42) and it is by far the worst lens I own. Buyer beware.

You definitely have a great one though!

How weird!

It goes to show that sample variation, particularly amongst off-brands, is something to watch out for? I was just comparing the 70-150mm Super TakM42 against the quite well thought of AF 40-150mm zoom from Olympus for the Panasonic L-1.. the results are astonishing, the sharpness, colour, and bokeh of the many years old Pentax just blow the Zuiko away!

The only downside is that the Pentax weighs 300 metric tonnes and is about 7 metres long... Smile

The Zuiko cost quite a bit, the Pentax not a lot at all... and its build quality? Well the Zuiko feels like it is made from recycled yoghurt cups, the Pentax, recycled Howitzers!
