Camera looks in very good shape. Placed an hearing aid battery (with
cardboard shim around it) and the meter sprang to life. Seals look good
and a 49mm shade fits the lens, cool.

Have it loaded with Fuji Xtra 400 for this weekend.

That is great! I can't wait to see your results.

These little Olys are true gems! Congrats!

Had one for a while, it's a great camera with a nice viewfinder, but too bulky for my tastes. BTW that shade will probably mask part of the rf spot and/or the viewfinder, you need a vented one. Smile

Attila, Carsten, and Ludoo, thanks, will post a few if they come out. Smile

Yes, the hood is in the way, but I can still frame a shot, and will be looking
for a vented hood, thanks. Wink

If you don't find a vented hood a less wide hood is a better; just a straight tube model covers only a small edge and is very usefull for this camera.

Thanks, Minolfan, will look for one, right now I have a cut down rubber
hood for it.

I usually buy vented hoods on ebay from one of the many Hong Kong sellers: they are very well made, and very cheap (usually with free delivery too). The only problem is it takes ages for them to get here. Smile

Are all Olympus RF hoods the same?

PostPosted: Sun Oct 17, 2010 3:37 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Paul, thanks.

Moira, no, hoods are in different diameters. I think the 35RC was 43.5mm
or 46.5mm, can't remember exactly, but that hood fits the Trip 35, too.
The 35SP uses a standard 49mm that are all over the 'bay. I think the
vented one would look spiffy if I can find it.

It's a really nice small cam, Bill.

I got one long ago and my daughter got in love quickly... So she keeps it since them Wink. I only had to replace seals, everithing else was okay.

I posted the only roll I was able to shot at the Gallery:

Olympus 35 RC

Enjoy it!

Regards.

Jes.

Jes, thanks, remember those pictures, excellent! This camera is the 35SP
with 1.7/42 lens and a little larger, but I hope to get on with it. Will see very
soon.

Just won another trip from a Japanese seller:

Click here to see on Ebay

Last week I shot an entire 24exp roll of air through the Trip I have. Embarassed
The counter was on '4' and thought I had film in it, didn't pay attention to
the rewind knob moving, and blew away some (what I hoped) were early
morning shots with beautiful lighting.

You are not alone I have done that a few times with my yashica minister D...always check the rewind movement!! Laughing

Moira, thanks for the commiseration, it's so nice to know I'm not alone! Laughing

Yes, a straight short hood is the only way to go with the Oly-35 SP. I can
frame shot, not focus one with the hoods I have. Rolling Eyes

Well, I had Walmart develop the roll since these were test shots of my
usual test scenes, but the scans on the Epson 4490 aren't half-bad:

SEP conversion of first shot

and a couple verticals, first one has a little flare on the right, didn't use a hood:

last shot at f2.8

The tunnel shot was with the Auto setting (f-stop and shutter rings set to
'A') and shot the Fuji Xtra 400 at box speed. I'm thinking there are no issues
with the meter using the hearing aid batt.

Apology to Big Dawg for shooting the park again! Laughing

The first shot and its SEP twin are impressive. Nice composition. Looks like you've got another winner ...

Thanks, I've shot that tunnel seems like a zillion times, but like this one the
best.

Hey it could be the same shot?.... Laughing Wink The bench shot is my favorite.

Last week I was in a second hand shop. Some lovely little thing was staring at me and I couldn't let it there. When I said that I was curious to try if the camera was still working the price was immediatly set down from € 3.= to € 2,=, and I had my first Olympus Trip. Good condition and seems fully working! Still have to put a film in it.

Moira and Minolfan, thanks!

Minolfan, the Trip is one of my absolute fave cameras, you're in for a treat.
For night shooting set it at f2.8, Fuji 400 film, and whatever zone focus and
snap away.

Here's one, Night-Tripping:

Wow, that's impressive for such cheap little camera!
