Just curious if there was ever a Takumar 100mm+ that is 1:1 ratio. I've got the 100mm 1:2 macro, but thinking 1:1 would be nice.

Just add another 50mm of extension tube! Laughing

M42 Asahi Bellows-Takumar 1:4/100 and Asahi Super-Multi-Coated Bellows-Takumar 1:4/100, and K-mount Asahi Pentax SMC Bellows Takumar 1:4/100, all focus from infinity to past 1:1 on bellows. Bellows-Takumar on a small bellows is almost as compact as a lens.

At 50mm is M42 Macro-Takumar 1:4/50, infinity to 1:1, with star-shaped diaphragm at f/8.

Bellows & tubes are doable, but I like walking around with my 100mm, and like the option of using the macro if I find a bug hanging out. If I've got to rip everything apart to put bellows / tubes in to get that macro shot, the bug could be LONG gone. 1:2 is great, but 1:1 would be WAY better.

OK, now I see how it works. I figured if it had bellows, then it wouldn't have infinity. That's cool. Gotta see if I can find that somewhere.

I don't get why you still have infinity even with the shortest position possible? Doesn't it work like rings?

The bellows lens has no focus helicoid; made for use on bellows. At shortest bellows extension, lens is at proper distance from film/sensor to give infinity focus. Bellows is extended for focus at closer distances.
