Hello lens fans,

Here is a lens you seldom see on the web. Yes it is a fast and sharp 1000mm F6.7 medium format mirror lens made some 30 years ago. Very Happy Cool Laughing I will show you a sample picture later.

Cheers.

Here is a sample picture shot with the lens mounted on a Canon 300D. A poster about 800-1000 meters away. 1st picture is a 100% crop without any PS. 2nd is a reduced whole picture, and the 3rd is a 100% of a Canon 55mm lens shot on a 300D EOS. Very Happy

Thanks for looking.

That doesn't look half bad Smile Have you anything with a bit of bokeh in?

For sharpness, it is as bad or good as the Russian MTO 1000A 10.5/1100, but it is a medium format lens, almost 1 1/2 stops faster, and about 1000 grams lighter. Very Happy I hope I could have a chance to compare it with the Zeiss 5.6/1000.

Sorry, I did not test its bokeh yet.

Never heard about that lens, that must be really rare.
Very fast lens.

Great find!

Here is another Hasselbald mount lens that I bought at the same time. A 311mm F5 lens. It is as sharp as the Tair-3 F4.5, but it is a medium format lens. Cool Very Happy

Hi,

As I said in the following message, that it is much lighter than the Russian MTO 10.5/1100. But it doesn't mean it should be hand held all the time. Laughing Laughing

Hi,

Thanks. Smile The 1000/6.7 mirror lens is very rare. Perhaps less than 10 were made. I bought them by luck.

Dear Klaus,

I think the lens has good contrast too. What a military grade lens!

In fact, I prefer it to my Russian mirrors( MTO 1000A, 3M-6A, etc.) for its contrast and colour rendition. I feel it is sharper than the 3M-6A 500/6.3.

Most welcome Zhang! I know 4-5 of these lenses, but I only have two of them.

According to a Chinese military source, far less than 30 of these were made, and they are still in service. He was surprised how I got it. Laughing

Here is a moon image shot with this lens. Cool
