A M42 version of a affordable manual lens that I like a lot,

1)
Neutral and well behaved background - at WO,

2)
Stretching the frame, "tilting" the camera - and playing Flek wanabee,

Nice images Renato.

The scenery reminds me very much of Australian bush land.

It's a lovely lens, heavily underrated in my opinion.
Actually there are so many good 50's that cost nothing and maybe behave better than the tessar at wider apertures, but its character and its colors make it hard to beat on a sunny day.

Nice samples.

Nice shots, Renato. The exif data in image #4 says the aperture is f3.5. How do you record that with this lens and your 5D? Is it the type of adapter you use?

I have this lens and use it on my 7D, but the exif shows f0.

Alan,

Probably I forgot to set the aperture dial in the camera to the correct exposure of the lens, really don't remember the f-stop I used for this photo, maybe f8/f11. The chip I'm using is the AF-EMF type, that one with focus micro-adjust mode.

The EXIF data was recorded using LR4 and "Lens Tagger", a plugin for LR that writes in EXIF many parameters of the shot including lens data. But it has to be defined manually at the plugin page, and written sequentially to the EXIF one by one or in batch mode.

I'm glad you liked the pics,

Cheers,

Renato

Well it has to have something different as Canon, Minolta, Fuji, Hexanon, Olympus etc lenses are still cheap and faster. Wink

True, and if I had to choose and keep only one of my under € 30 fifties, it wouldn't probably be a tessar.
But luckily I don't have to choose, and for its own peculiarities it can find its place in a collection quite easily, imho

Dr. Juan,

I have a all-black with A/M button switch,

I have an auto rikenon 50mm F2.8 around here somewhere. Is that one also a tessar design?

That's the best way i.e. sort through our lenses and pick the ones that overall give something a little bit special.....I too have the CZJ black Tessar, but my choice for the cheaper M42 50mms would be the super tak 55mm f1.8 even though the Tessar is a bit sharper and the OP has posted some very good shots.

I'm never disappointed with mine, it's just a good reliable lens that delivers.
