Cheap but how about shutter lifetime, looks to me poor camera was used by a pro ... show lot of care less miles... Is it safe to take it if we count this factor too ?

And the poor camera looks like it survived Vietnam + Horoshima + Indo-China + Afghanistan + the Tunguska explosion

Since I have my 15/3.5, I knew I will soon buy one. I've tested fourmix's one friday, so at a bit more than 700€ sold by a pro seller, I could not resist. I'm crazy.

Hah! You should have seen my first Canon F-1! It looked like it had been used as a hockey puck. Never missed a lick for all the years I owned it though. That 5D looks clean in comparison.

I too would be somewhat concerned about actuation count, though. Likely it's very high.

A great bargain, I wouldn't worry too much about the shutter, it's possible the previous owner was just careless and the insides might not be as used as it seems, you do get people like that sometimes.

Even if it has seen a lot of use I know people with over 1 million actuations on 1ds

You only tend to hear from the people with shutter failures and not the ones who had no problem, there are a lot of entry level cameras out there with half a million or more actuations.

I do not worry so much about the number of actuations Very Happy And as it is not for the collection, I do not worry about the external state, especially if it is cheaper Smile

Pff not exactly statistically significant numbers. Smile
You also have to wonder how they determined the number of shutter actuations, because there is no software that can read it from the 5D.

I think you are indeed crazy btw Wink , because with 100 euros more (750 euros) I got one almost without any signs of use. 750-800 is the normal price the Netherlands. Anyway, have fun with it. I hope it will serve you for a long time.

If the viewfinder has annoying dust particles, there is quite an easy way to clean it:

That's FF craziness !! It's a world apart, or rather a category, most people are ok with aps-c's and will never aim for FF, because they do'nt need too.

I would have hesitated, but apart the cosmetics it seems ok, post pix mister and welcome to 24x36 digital point of view Wink

It is not a Takumar, so I don't care cosmetics (and I think I will hide any Canon reference to reduce risks, Pentax is unknown but Canon is). At 800€ I would not buy immediately a 5D, at 700€, even used, fast delivered, without waiting more, it works for me Smile

Wow, good deal, congratulations! So some lady with lotion on hands paint wears off body easy. Inside counts. Also now you leave behind puny APS-C viewfinder and get to use wide angle as meant.

Very true, but for the serious photographer, FF has an enormous appeal. Better image quality and if you already have a collection of lenses that can be adapted to it, they work as intended. E.g., superwides are still superwides and not just wides.

I think it's really nice to be able to have both -- which is my goal. A 5D or 5D II someday to supplement my crop body.

At some point I had a 5D (super IQ), Nikon D2H (1.5x crop + 8 fps speed demon) and Olympus E-510 (2x crop). Now the 5D is gone. I must be going backwards then? Confused
