Wow look at this one for the price it went for:

Luck seller! Mine went for only €950 including loads of other accessories Sad

I am not complaining. I got my money back and had enjoyed using the 5D for 1.5 year. Now it will be in the good hands of another fellow photographer who is upgrading to a full frame. I enjoy spreading some happiness around! Wink

I think this is more the regular going price:

That's absurd. It really shows the ebay craze. If more than one person is determined to get an item, they just keep raising the price. I guess they just don't have the patience to wait for a better offer. Wink

I got my 5D for 750 euros. With the accesories yours had a pretty fair price.

I totally agree ... here (italy) the out-of-ebay average price for a body only 5D is 800-850 eur depending on overall status of the camera.

The price of that first one actually comes quite close to the price of a new 5DmkII, which is ~1750 euros (only 300 euros more). That makes it not only absurd, but utterly stupid. Smile

That's what I thought, but from a seller's point of view, even when you take away ebay+paypal fees (approx £82), it's a great ending price!

@stingOM: Yes, I'm sure that the seller was rubbing his hands when he saw the end bid. Wink

Looks like you can really get a decent 5D camera from the UK:
https://secure.ffordes.com/Shop/Store/StockList.asp?Type=secd&Sub=1&code=DC&subcode=CN

£749 for 5D + Grip - not bad!!
https://secure.ffordes.com/Shop/Store/Itemdet.asp?Type=secd&sub=1&Code=DC&SubCode=CN&id=122128&promo=0

I did not do so bad after all. But then again I included all accessories.

There is a high demand of 35mm full frame DSLR. Wink

I agree with everyone's comments. I sold mine on Amazon UK about 18 months ago for less than £800.

However, bear in mind that some newbies get confused about the Canon range. The winning bidder (on 5 feedbacks) may have made an error and bid it up thinking they were buying the current body.

There are also winning bidders who don't complete the payment. I've had that happen to me. When Ebay investigated they discovered that the bidder was determined to spoil my auction.

Hi Luke,

Can anyone sell in Amazon just like eBAY? Did not know that. What are the fees like?

Thanks.
Simon

Anyone can sell on Amazon / Amazon UK / etc. I sold my 5DC through Amazon. You do need to create a seller's account and register a bank account. The beauty of the scheme is that Amazon take responsibility for collecting the payment, and transferring money afterwards from them to you is very reliable and safe.
Yes they take a fee and it can be quite high, (you'll know before completing the listing), but the quality of the transaction is good. You can sell any product second hand that they or their partners sell new. Take a look at any Canon product listed today and on the right hand side of the screen you will see a link entitled "Have one to sell? : Sell yours here.". Take it from there. It will guide you through the process. There is not an auction. It's Buy it now, but potential buyers can contact you with queries and offers.
Just bear in mind that there aren't so many potential buyers scouring lists every day, so getting a sale can take longer. Popular products should sell quickly.
I sell unwanted academic text books. I keep them listed for a year, and every so often Amazon emails me to say that one has sold and I have to post it within 48 hours. Makes me happy and pays for small photographic accessories. (£500 one year!!)
Good luck

I think almost all (especially Canon) digital bodies and AF lenses go for ridiculously high prices compare to the price of the new products.

Like locally Canon 450 "double kit" someone really bidding 575,- when new is 786,-.
