Taken with enlarging lenses on helicoids. No lens cost more than $50 and the helicoids were around $100 each, but rival the best construction in good lenses.

1: El-nikkor 63/2.8

2: El-nikkor 80/5.6

3: Schneider Componon-S 100/5.6

Three functioning and focusing lenses for about the price of a celebrated 90/2.5.

Stunning pics. How did you get the black velvet background?
I'd like to see you use that kit for a portrait or two ...

These are stunningly gorgeous photos patrickh! The subtle graduations of color are outstanding. Seeing #3 made me smell perfume of Lily!

Dark background is in the shade; flowers in full Sun. Expose for subject, background goes dark.

Thanks both of you. @fish - I will try to get a model, that's a good idea
@v_o that is exactly right.

Thanks for the comments - trifox I blush, you are a master at this stuff.

poilu: klaus (kds350) organized them for me. The nikon mount makes them quite unusual, and extremely useful for me.

Agree, amazing shots, Patrick, but my fave is the 3rd. I have shot countless
photos of daylilies, but you've mastered the art of showing detail in the
stamens all the way down to the base of the bloom. Well done!

Thank you Bill - a treasured compliment. I was really trying to show again just how good these very cheap enlarging lenses can be.
#3 was taken with a very special lens

These are all very nice shots Patrick. My faves are 2 and 3 - I think 3 more than 2 due to the excellent capture and fantastic colours.

These three lenses are (some of) my personal favorite enlarger lenses for such macro work
(except I use the 3.5/63mm EL-Nikkor) and it clearly shows why. Congratulations Patrick!!

[I use the extra long 35-90mm M42 helicoid + tubes if needed for that especially outside, works like a charm]
