These are some shots from this week-end:
Macro in the kitchen - shrimps marinated in lemon, shallots, paprika:
50D - Jupiter 37A 135mm M42 + 3 rings - f/3,5 - 1/80s - ISO1000
50D - Helios 44-M 58mm M42 + 3 rings - f/2 - 1/60s - ISO800
I love the bokeh color...
50D - Helios 44-M 58mm M42 + 3 rings - f/2 - 1/80s - ISO100
A bit swirly
Postcards from Paris - the Opera Garnier
50D - Pentacon auto 135mm M42 + - f/2,8 - 1/6400s - ISO100
50D - Pentacon auto 135mm M42 + - f/2,8 - 1/3200s - ISO100
50D - Helios 28mm 2.8 M42 + - f/2,8 - 1/2500s - ISO100
I didn't expect a top performer, but here, it's not soft, it's blurry and it does not get better when closing...
What would be a good and cheap alternative? Pentacon 29mm?
Night try with macro rings
50D - Helios 44-M 58mm M42 + 3 rings - f/2 - 1/5s - ISO1600 _________________

The Helios 28mm is a cheap Japanese lens, isn't it?
So you bettter searched for a Super Takumar, Tamron, Tokina, Chinon or Vivitar. For a Pentacon 29 it seems you need luck to get a really good copy. you might look for Nikon or Olympus 28mm too. |

Yes, made in Japan. Yes, cheap. Thanks for the tip on Pentacons, I'll wait for a good and reliable opportunity then.
