Click here to see on Ebay

Seems like a pretty good price if you can avoid the VAT. Wink
Edit: I'm not affiliated to the seller. I just came across this and thought I'd share.

Foto-Hobby is notorious for the old VAT nugget - I've read elsewhere that the legality of what she's/they're doing is dubious at best. I'm not an expert in VAT, but I didn't get a response when I asked in the past about whether or not what they're doing is legal...

Isn't it like importing (buying) a lens from the US to a EU country? There's a big chance you have to pay import duty and VAT, which would amount to something close to 22% (maybe a bit less). You don't get charged for it in each case though.

+1 I think illegal, in my country you can't sell used products to private persons without VAT. I think this is pretty nasty what is he doing so I am avoid to buy from him. I bought my G1 around this price in USA and thanks for Bill's help it is landed in my hands safety.

So did you pay import duties/tax then? Otherwise your purchase may be illegal... (like all those sellers who ship their items marked as gift of $1 value.)

25% is a lot of money. You either save a lot of cash or get insurance that your item will be fixed, but just the manufacture fail. Not if you crack lens or smth like that.

No, it's not.

What Foto-Hobby are doing is charging VAT on items shipped within the EU - VAT is not applicable if the item is being shipped to a country outside the EU. Unless you're a business and are VAT registered, the VAT is always included in the selling price for pretty much everything we buy (at least here in Ireland). Imagine going into a shop and being told that the jeans you're buying are liable to a further 22% as you live in the city the shop is in Wink

In Foto-Hobby's case, this 22% is more like an "Idiot Tax" - anybody who falls for it, and agrees to paying nearly a quarter of the value of the goods on top of the buy-price, deserves to be robbed...

Just my 22% worth Laughing

@Mal: I see your point. I'm not sure if it's really illegal - I've seen more (regular, not ebay) shops that use ex. VAT prices. It's possible that the regulations have changed over the years though.

AhamB,
if it is considered as a gift there is no VAT. Your payment though is also considered as a gift in that case.
