Finally, my Helios 40 is whole - with lens, step up rings (66-67 & 67-77) and hood.

I have already talked about the 66-67 step up ring in another thread so I will not be talking about it here. This time I want to mention about the hood.

This hood I bought recently is made of metal, not plastic. It therefore add a little bit more weight to the already heavy Helios 40. However, if you are fine in handling the Helios 40, this extra load is insignificant.

The purpose of using the hood is double fold. Firstly it decrease flare, which is a major complain to many Helios 40 users, and, secondly it acts as a protector to the lens.

Here are two photos of the setup taken with its smaller brother - Helios 44-3 @ F4.

#1. Full gear.

#2. Camera + Full gear.

What do you think about the full armor. Looks nice, doesn't it?

Does somebody know an e-mail-address or something from Alex (HK300)? I would like to contact him about these adapters and hoods.
Thanks.

I'll be meeting up with Alex this coming weekend to pickup a replacement C/Y-EOS adapter with the programmable chip. So he's in town at the moment. Send him a PM.

I've sent him a PM, but so far there is no answer. Since I'm using my Helios-40 (M39, silver) with analogue cameras very often, I'm really interested for his adapter and hood. A few photos with my Helios : http://www.flickr.com/photos/vjekoslav_bobic/tags/helios40/ Wink
