How shall i decide, The Elmarit for a R5 or a Zuiko for my uncountable OM's?
Is 400€ to much for the Zuiko as the Elmarit goes for 250€ ?
To compare the bodies is no issue of magic: a german tank compared to a elegant schooner ...
Anybody made a comparison about these two gems of lens making?

thnaks for help ;o)

Use forum search. Zuiko lenses are great, nice bokeh, colors and contrast. 50/2 Zuiko cant cost 250, for that amount you can get 50/1.4.

I think you can get the Zuiko 50/1.4 for MUCH less than 250. More like 100. They are quite common, much more than the 50/2 macro.

That was not the question of the TO.

You can´t compare a macro lens with a standard lens. So question is Leica Marco Elmarit 2.8/60 vs OM Zuiko 2/50 macro.

I own the Leica 2.8/60 and the Zuiko 3.5/50 macro. Both are very good lenses, the Zuiko with f:3.5 is much cheaper than the Leica.

PS may be some better tips within your thread at the Leica forum.

thx - but Leica users are sooo proud of their stuff - hard to find a realistic statment about lenses from far-east ...

I'm talking about that loveply piece of Glass

Besides the speed, are there any other advantage of Zuiko 50/2 over 50/3.5?

The Zuiko 2/50 is a cult lens in the same way the Zuiko 2/90 is.
I owned the 90 once and have a 3.5/50 as Rolf also does.
The 2/50 I have never tried. It is not a very common lens.
All reports are that it is superb. The 3.5/50 is fantastic for the price (usually around $100 or less).
Only 1/2 stop slower than the elmarit. I say try it before shelling out for the Zuiko 2/50.
Few 1:2 or !:! shots are taken at less than f8. If you plan to do Macro speed of lens is not so important.

w'll see how it performs against the cron 2/50
The stop was not the driver for decission - but the newer & more sophisticated lens design 3.5/50 is from the '70s (5-4) , the 2/50 is from the late '80s (9-7, ED?)
3.5/50 & a OM1 may be the cheapest entry to high-end photography
about 125€ - it has never been more affordable

I am interested in knowing how the OM 50/2 behave at F2 too. Is it sharp and contrasty? Or is it soft and dreamy?

The Zuiko Auto-Macro is the sharpest 50mm lens wide open

Some samples here (all at f2)
