Hey gang,

Took the plunge and picked up a mini-lathe. Yes the element isn't exactly centered, but it came out just fine. The hard part was protecting the fine thread in the rear element barrel from the chuck jaws. I had to use a strip of leather and it make it difficult to square up. The result was what I was looking for. My EOS Jim Buchannan converted Minolta MC-Rokkor PF 58/1.4 now clears the mirror when focused at infinity. Here's a video clip of this work:

Good job, i not pay attention to the audio, but I suppose you've painted black the brass ring.
Congrats

Thanks, I haven't painted the brass ring from turning black yet. Should I paint it black and why?

Some shots after the work:

ISO 200 at f/2

ISO 400 at f/5.6

There may be a reflection on the bronze.
It uses a model airplane paint, matt black.
Wink
Great pictures
