Retro camera bag?

Does any manufacturer make a "retro" camera bag? I just received a Pentax S1a Monday, and would like to get a bag for it. BUT, I'd like it to "look" like the old time camera bags. I have 4 taks, so I'd like space enough for a Super Tak 35 3.5, Super Tak 28 3.5 ( with 58mm filter threads ) and a S-M-C 200 F4. The 55 1.8 will more than likely be on the camera. Preferably the bag will have "compartments" like the more modern bags, where my camera can fit pretty snugly, but have the retro look outside.

BTW, here's my new favorite camera Very Happy Razz Smile

Well, I would like to get a new bag if possible, but if I can't find what I want, I'll have to go used I guess, or just use a modern style bag....

Imho that stuff looks coolist when camera is in the Asahi 'hard camera case', with original buckles, clips, and leather strap, ready to flip open, bring to the eye & go, the lenses in their protective cases threaded together onto another long vintage leather strap over the shoulder. The 200 case might get its own strap Smile

That's flashing a lot of bling however.

A vintage saddlebag with big flop-over top could be padded with fabric- even calfskin-covered closed cell foam for padding and lined for moisture barrier.

Depends on your style what would be hippest.

It did come with the original case, and it is in great shape too!!! I guess I could just look for a smaller bag to hold me Taks Razz

Here is the gallery that they used in ebay for the camera, you can see the case in photo 1.

I don't know about a "Retro" bag but did you have a look at the Domke bags. They are classics and didn't have changed much in the past. I do like especially the wax wear bags. (Btw. they are much cheaper in the US then they are in Europe.)

Yeah, I'd go with a Domke classic of one kind or another ...

I would suggest either the National Geographic Explorer series of bags, or a Billingham bag.

Edit, links:

(I have a Billingham 225 bag, although mine is in black so it's not quite as “retro” as the khaki ones: http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=billingham&w=12347551%40N00 )

Also note that you should hunt around for better prices. The Billinghams can be bought used for a much lower price and additional vintage touch.

+1

I agree I found one vintage bag for $3.

For new bags the Domke F2 was designed in 1976. Also as mentioned some of the Billingham bags look retro. But they are above my price point.

+1 for Billingham if you want to buy new.

The Domkes are WELL above what I want to spend too, and the Billinghams are out of the question.. Tamrac has a few that are somewhat Retro looking, The Express series look pretty good. As do the Aeros. I am in no hurry, but just wanted some input from other film camera junkies Razz

You could nab an Indiana Jones type bag, and modify it for camera use. Look up messanger bags. Some of them have nifty pocket arrangements and retro look ...
