I got this camera in a local garage sale for $5. It seems to be working, but I have not had a chance to put a film in.
I got the manual online, but the instruction is a little bit vague, especially about setting the ISO and manual speed.
Anyone has this camera and care to comment my following questions?
1. The ISO dial and the manual f/stop are in one dial. So, how do I know that the film that I will put in is an ISO 100 or 200? Usually, there is an independent selector for ISO. This one all in one dial with the f/stop.
How to tell my camera that the film is ISO 200, and I want to shoot at f/8. They are both on the same dial?
2. Manual vs automatic.
For manual, I assume that you dial in the f/stop. What dial button to set when doing automatic? Set at the ISO dial?

Thanks for information

To set the ISO you have to turn the camera to manual. After that you turn to Auto for normal picture taking; the lightmeter steers the aperture; (only) shutterspeed is 1/200. If the lightmeter still works OK ofcourse.
For using flash set to Manual (shutter 1/40) and use the aperture setting according to the Guidenumber of the flash for the used film.
Hard to believe it is that simple!?

I don;t think there is a designated switch for manual or for automatic. I believe if the dial is set on the ISO, it will be automatic exposure (in which the camera will adjust the f/stop). If the dial is set on specific f/stop, then it will be manual. What bothers me that if this is the case, example, I set the dial for f/11. My question is how the camera know that it has an ISO 100 or 200 film?

I checked the newer manual for Olympus Pen EE-S2 ( not just EE-S), and I do notice that there is a separate dial for the ISO setting.... but NOT on mine.

Secondly, you said to select the shutter speed. Mine does not have such a thing. There is no other dials to set a shutter speed. The front lens only has 2 dials - one for the focus (mountain, portrait or group), and the inner dial for BOTH ISO setting and for the f/stop.

I've had two ees-2, and my suggestion is: check that the selenium cell is still working by setting an iso speed (100, 200, whatever) and alternatively shooting with the camera pointing at a bright light, and with the selenium cell blocked by your hand. If you notice a difference (smaller aperture when pointing at a light, large aperture or red flag raised -- can't remember if this camera has it), then all is well.

At which point just load some film and go shooting, these are great little cameras. Only remember to compensate for subjects with a brighter background: just move the iso dial one stop by selecting a less sensitive film.
