Hi,
was with my son yesterday evening for a boxing event. My son had a GF1 with G Vario 4-5.6/45-200mm and myself a G1 with Leica Elmarit 2.8/180mm.
The first one fully manual with adapter Leica to m4/3 (thank you Alex hk300) at ISO 1600 & f:2.8 at 1/500 sec. The other one fully automatic wit iA (intelligent automatic) at ISO 800 & f:5.6 at 1/125 sec.
Leica
Panasonic
As you can see the Pana Vario lens made a very good job. The conditions were at the limit with such cams (and lenses) due to light and distance.
Few more pics from this event you will find within this thread

The Elmarit looks sharper to me, possibly motion blur in the 45-200 shot. _________________ Ron

Both pics seem close to identical rendering.
An amazing acheivement from Panasonic. I assume that OIS was on?
Good shots, too! _________________ ---------------------------------

No, I don´t play with you
My son owns a GF1 with 14-45 kit lens and 45-200. I´m always impressed when I see the results. This was a good example for same results under very bad condition. Ok - OIS was on and works perfect.

Sorry to spoil the fun, but images that have been downsized that much for the web, do not tell much anything about sharpness of a lens. Mostly bokeh quality and distortions may be compared from photos of such downsizing. There isn't much bokeh and the zoom may benefit from in-camera distortion correction...
For quality analysis crops would be beneficial.
Of course, if you intended to show us, that when making shots like this it doesn't really matter if one is using an expensive Leica or less expensive Lomo, then the inteltion was fulfilled to perfection
Anyhow, interesting to see one can bring big guns into a boxing match without being arrested or anything |
