Another 3D like effect or is that my imagination?

This is straight from camera (Panasonic Lumix L-1) no PP. other than very mild crop...

More than a 'wee bit' I reckon... it neeeds quite a bit of curves attention.. it was the 3D bit I liked... but I know what you mean!

Composition in both is good.

I think the quality of the 2nd is better but there's something about the 1st I really like. The shadow hides some of the detail which gives a bit of mystery to the violinist. Also the guy lying down has his face obstructed by his hand, leaving only the middle person swigging from a bottle visible. Even the dog is hard to make out.

Yes.. I thought it had something like that... the compostion is slightly off as just out of frame (when viewing - curses 94% viewfinders!) a woman decided to bend over and stick her ass into the frame! lol

I could remove her I guess in PP and that would restore the symmetry as the whole of the dog is in fact in shot, but truncated to remove said woman's backside! lol

It's tonality is what makes it I think - almost monochrome a kind of muted steel-gray with coloured accents?

nice series, #1 maybe dark and desaturated but difficult light to deal with
