SMC "K" 50mm f/1.2 lens, extension tube, K20D. Shot at f/2.

Two versions of the same "Thorn" image. Shot using an S-M-C Takumar 135mm f/3.5 lens and extension tubes on a K20D.

Version 1, colour:

Version 2: "high contrast gritty" conversion (as suggested by a PUG member, conversion done using Silver Efex Pro).

I'd be interested in your thoughts especially regarding the colour v. BW conversion.

Thanks, Kris.

Love the picture of the thorns!

I much prefer it in colour. I don't particularly like the black and white conversion. I think it really loses the effect of the sharpness and texture of the thorns, as well as the lovely contrast between the brown thorns on the green stalk of the plant.

In colour, it's a striking photograph of dangerous looking thorns. In b+w it's just a nubbly plant.

Of course, I know it's very subjective.

Last two pictures are really stunning. Shocked
The colour one is a fantastic catch of atmosphere and the b/w is really threatening.

Thanks everyone.

A number of people on the PUF didn't like the grain and so I tried a fine grain conversion...

Best wishes, Kris.
