By a stroke of luck, I came across a Zenit camera with a mint condition Helios 44M at a junk shop yesterday. $35 later I have a cool Russian camera and one of the SWEETEST lenses I've ever put on my Rebel t2i. As a few of you know, I'm not a photographer but rather a videographer who loves to use vintage lenses in his video productions (mainly weddings). So while I don't have photos to show, I do have a test clip using the lens which might be of some interest to some of you who might be curious how it performs in motion. In a word, it's magical. A few caveats....

1. It's a plants/cats/dogs type of clip. The imagery is fine but the subjects are dead boring.

2. There's a long 30 second take at :49. Feel free to skip ahead to 1:19. I won't be offended I promise.

Anyway, enjoy the clip!

Thank you Chris.

Very interesting to look at.
I didn't realize all the progress done with video on dslr.

The Helios 44M 2/58mm seems really excellent !
Would it be as good on a 5D MkII with FF sensor ?

Great job! Keeping focus like that must be difficult as well, I'm very impressed. And it's weird seeing that lens creat moving pictures Laughing
