Beautiful, vibrant images - you've made a really great start Wink

One thing I noticed inmediatly is the per pixel sharpness of the 5D, much better than on the 40D. For example; my copy of the jupiter-9 @ f2 is very soft on the 40D, on the 5d is still soft but very usable
Another thing I noticed is the color richness, with the 40D I needed more tweaks to get the color I wanted but with the 5D is much easierto get a natural look, even giving some saturation. With the 40D when saturating the color would easily look too artificial
maybe I´m flipping but this is what I felt with the first couple of shots.
By the way, it is true that the 5d screen is quite awful, greenish cast on all shoots. Anyway, I allways shoot with faithful setting with -2 contrast, is easy to see if I am overexposing this way. I shot raw

It is not me, is the ML who did a nice job Wink

Full frame cameras tend to get better results because they have such large pixels compared to crop cameras and hence demand less resolution from a lens which means superior sharpness at the pixel level. It's the same with colour too, there's just more information getting to those pixels which is also why the noise is low.

I hate to say it but Ken Rockwell made a very decent demonstration of this:

http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/full-frame-advantage.htm

I'd love a digital full frame but just don't have the ££££

I knew of that kenrockwell´s report allready; Actually is not so expensive to get a 5D. I sold my 40D and tamron 17-50 2.8 @ 700€ and bought the 5d for 750€
Now I do not own any zoom, ok, I borrow my girlfriens cosina 19-35 nikon mount with an nikon-eos adapter Wink

This is indeed very good, great colors.

I just can't wait for my adapter to test the Planar& Sonnar on the 5D Cool

That is true, as I said there is only 1min of postprocessing and I overpushed things up a bit(just a wee tiny bit) to see how it worked, I would have not dare doing the same with the 40d Wink

Congrats for this "upgrade"... this is a totally new dimension in photography.

Not for the photographer in taking good pictures, but in technical terms..

Today i cant remember and handle a crop cam. Some things will getting easier, some not. But what i see, is that you are fascinated in the same way as me, during i started with FF cams.. Very Happy

Cheers
Henry

Some more test with the same set up plus Canon 500D close up lens, for a shallower DOF. Color oversaturated on purpose this time, specially on the second one Wink
Bokehhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Bokeh looks quite harsh/jagged, not smooth/creamy.

I could be because of the way I edited the pictures; I have lots to learn Wink
I still have to adapt my self to FF shooting; I love that my 50 1.4 like a 50 1.4 and not like an 80 2.2 or something

Glad you like the picture but bear in mind that color are over processed in CR, I find sharpness to be good enough for my needs, even at 1.4
I really love these yashica MLs, Ok, Zeiss are much better, taller, stronger and prettier;) but this is the best quallity I can get with reasonable money in my opinion.
the ML 50 1.4 is the one I was using most in APS-C, specially for portraits(casual pictures from friends, nothing serious)
I have also a Jupiter-9 and a tamroon 90 2.5 I was not using because of finding them a bit too long on aps-C, I guess now I´ll use them more
Things with this yashica is some CAs wideopen, specially in highlights and some flare isues I had on a test yesterday, but was wide open and with lots of lights

Je, je, give me yours Wink Seriously, I love shallow DOF photography, a 50mm 1.2 and a 85 1.4 are on my wishlist

congrats! every day i am still excited by my 5d and using lenses as they were intended--its a big rush.

for the shallow dof, i have found the jupiter 9 wide open is very shallow indeed. i am sure you will have fun experimenting as i have!
