Helios 103.
I'm curios about this lens. Is anyone using one? You seem to be able to pick them up in new condition pretty cheap.
I wouldn't mind picking one up and try a M42 mount conversion on it.
Is it worth the trouble?

Kamerer

Thank you.

I updated the thread title. They found a bunch of these lenses in a warehouse, brand new never used.

I know it's a 43mm f1.8 lens. Zeiss Biotar type lens. This being a stock lens on the Kieve-4, is this lens worth getting.

I was curious how sharp it is and how good the Bokeh is. This is a coated lens. But the info I've pulled on internet dosen't seem really acurate.

Is this a Jupiter 8 variant, as one site listed. The more I read the more confusing it gets.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

The Helios-103 is actually quite good and is a copy of the Leica Summicron:

I think it is not possible, because the Contax/Kiev register distance is 34.85 mm and m42 45.46 mm.

here is a list that one can look what is possible:

Thanks for that link. I saved it. So M42 conversion is out. But I have wanted to pickup a Kieve anyway, so this would be a good excuse. Smile

So for M42 I should just pickup the Jupiter 8. Wish I could find one new cheap. Smile Laughing
