Hi folks!

I have this 135mm 2.8 lens together with a 50mm 1.4 SMC Takumar and a Pentax Sportmatic which I'm planning to restore (professionally by a camera shop of course~ Wink)

I've been searching high and low on the net about this 138mm lens but nothing. Crying or Very sad

Any of you know anything about this lens? All I know is what I can see around the focus ring.....

Brand: IMAGE
Focus Length: Prime 135mm
F-Stop: F2.8
- Super Coated
- Made in Japan
- 55MM

Is this something worth the $40-$50 to have it cleaned and serviced?

Thanks for any info in advance~!

Hi there and welcome aboard! The images not showing is an anti-spam measure with first posts.

Will look at the photos and see if I can be of any help.

Welcome!

I doubt that it would be worth $50,- to have this lens cleaned, to be honest.

Looks like a typical Japanese 135mm lens, probably not worth that much...

Nice looking lens, but I personally don't think it's worth the service cost. What's wrong with it that requires a service? If it's a touch of fungus or internal dust, it's an easy DIY job. The thing is, cheap 135s are out there in their droves and most everybody here has / had more than one!

Congrats on the Spotmatic & Tak 1.4/50 combo - a well known and reliable setup.

Ah ha!!! I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my pics weren't showing....LOL

Thanks for helping out Riku~~

LucisPictor, no... probably not $40-$50....maybe close to $30 bucks as I was quoted around that for a moldy MF lens.

This is going into the shop together with the Takumar 50/1.4.

Thanks everyone!! Yes..there's some mold and dust as it's been sitting in a camera bag for the past 20 years!

This whole setup is my dad's and with my obsession in photography these days, I'm really want it restored back to its' glory.

Thanks!!!

If it has sentimental value, then by all means go for it. Cool

I have some gear from my grandparents, and there is a great thrill to use it knowing that the very same equipment had witnessed my parents growing up. Wink

Do make sure you come back and post some pictures taken with this lens here, even if you don't end up getting it cleaned.

Thanks Scheimpflug~~ Indeed this lens has great sentimental value in the family, it has captured great moments in the family.

I'll be sure to post some pics once I have this setup going.

Cheers!

That is a completely different story then! Of course, you need somebody to clean it if it was your father's lens.

I agree that you should get the lens restored to it's former glory.

I have many of my fathers old engineering tools that I still use to this day. Some that he even made as an apprentice, and he's 90 years old now.
I'm also restoring a large Welsh Dresser that his father made about 80 years ago, and it's such a nice feeling to run my fingers across the grain of the wood, just as he would have done.

My grandfather was a farmer and no cabinet maker, but who cares? The important thing is respecting your past.
I hope you get some wonderful pictures of many generations of your family with the lens.
