It's a nice camera. Optically a bit better than XA. Likes ISO400 films more than slower ones.

I usually the spot metering/center af to control the focus more reliably.

What you mean it is like better ISO 400 than slower one, I am planning to use with ISO 100 film in sunny weather.

Those things are great.
The former Mrs. F16 and my mother both had one and loved that camera.
I think there are more pictures of me taken with one than any other camera Embarassed

The 2.8 lens is sweet. Adds a bit of vignetting which I like and you don't know when you will get it which is fun.
This is the best one of the Stylus cameras if you asked me.

The automatic light measurement system emphase on the shutter speed, so the lens stays wide open pretty long before it starts to close it. Somebody had the graph about it somewhere... so the camera takes a lot images wide open if the film is slow.

The lens isn't bad wide open, but of course it sharpens up closed down.

I remeber it was a fun camera to take pictures of people in particular.
Maybe because of the wide open vignetting lens. It's not bad in open sharpness or vignetting but, still apparent.
Don't worry Attila. If this chart is correct. The lens will stop down for your landscape shoots to the sweetspot Cool

Strangely I bought one from a colleague a couple of weeks back. I'm halfway through a roll of film and may finish it this weekend, weather permitting. Rolling Eyes

Sorry for the bad quality of the scan (old one)

January 2000 - Portugal Tavira and Albufeira

June 2000 - France - Doubs
Here is a good exemple of the possibilities of this fast lens with a fast film.

I need to find a good shoot i made in the Cathedrale of Nevers hand hold with few light

July 2002 - Portugal Tavira and Albufeira

June 2002 - a pict of me Smile

I have one which I now rarely use. It's good, but I think the exposure programming takes the edge of its capabilities. I also have the original Mju/Stylus with the f3.5 lens, and an XA2 "guess-focus" as well. Looking at album sized prints (5x7 inches) the XA2 can produce crisper results than either of the AF ones, provided you estimate the distance correctly. But that's made tricky because it only has "near-middle-far" symbols for focusing!

I'm behind scanning BW rolls, but here's one from the first roll through
the Epic (MjuII) using Neopan 400, dev'd in HC-110B:

Epson 4490, 2400dpi

Lens has 4 elements in 4 groups, where the original Stylus has 3
elements in 3 groups. I'm not seeing a vast difference between them.
MjuII does have spot metering which will come in handy for backlit
subjects.

Attila and Fish, thanks, it was just a test shot to see if the camera worked.
It was a throw-in freebie on a trade from a guy in Canada. I think the
silver model looks nice, too:

from the movie, "lafidélité"
