At rangefinderforum.com I remember users commenting that they prefer the older Konica III over the later, much praised Konica Auto S2 / S3 ( and similar Minolta 7SII / Rollei 400 SE ):

superb build quality, great viewfinder, good lens, and looking good! see:

( almost bought one myself 2 days ago )

Except I won the Minolta A-2, I was buying one of these Konicas. I think both cameras have very good lenses and are well built - I have vintage ads for them too...

BUY IT !!!

My father in low had one. His slides in Perutz (developed in germany lab) were equal to the taken with tessar's contaflex that he had too.

I don't know anymore of the cam, but the lens is a real hexanon (hexar), a great lens.

Regards, Rino.

wow Attila, you even have the RF...a real dream camera..but so is the Konica III !!
I just had bought my first Konica 3 days ago, a small rangefinder C35FD, which outside of Japan is called Auto S3. However it's lightmeter / aperture automatic does not work, I bought it as defect for just 4 Euro, but I simply had to rescue this little jewel from a pile of broken cameras in a junk box. It's battery was corroded and I hope it's malfunction is only because of corroded contacts and that it can be repaired!

Repair it and I think you will have a great camera I expect with better image quality than most SLR and top lenses. My first experience was Yashica ELectro 35 also I got from Andy, he repaired it. Also blame all my SLR +SLR lenses even finest one or at least equal with them.

The S3's hexanon lens is marvelous. Use it a lot.

Good luck with the repair, the cam perhaps not but the lens deserve all the effort.

Attila I have a Yashica Electro CCN Wide and a GL ( but have not finished any film with either yet Embarassed )
and now also the Konica Auto S3.
also bought a Ricoh 500G and a Voigländer Vitomatic IIa ( with Skopar ) but both will be in my hands in 10 days or so only.

Rino the S3, as it is now, is useable but only wide open..which I read also is good with this marvelous lens

I am getting more and more curious how I will like these cameras!

You will apreciate so much the creamly images with the color-skopar lens. If I could find a skopar for SRL mount, I adapt it to my M42 mount cams. Without any doubts.

The voigtlander's lenses publicity was "because the lens is so good..."

Continue loving the RF cams.

Regards, Rino.

Konica IIIA RF with 50mm f 1.8 Hexanon Lens in a Seikosha MXL shutter.
I have enjoyed using this camera. I love the very quiet/ stealthy shutter release button .The two stroke self cocking shutter lever is unique. Black and whites taken on Ektar 100. It has a very clear and large viewfinder which is nice and one of its highlights . I have a roll of Fujifilm Superia Xtra 400 ,my first color roll in it , I hope the images come out good Very Happy.
