Looking for a cheap (~$25) wide angle (will be normal on m4/3). I saw good reviews of the vivitar 28/2.5 & 28/2.8, and then that the rokkor 28/2.8 are even better.
Any recommendation as to what to look for in this range (and which is better)?
Thanks. _________________ Panasonic DMC-G1, DMC-GF1

Thanks - that was quick...
I think that the kiron would be too expensive or at least very hard to obtain. I'm looking for something that would be realistically easy to get (cheaply). _________________ Panasonic DMC-G1, DMC-GF1

assaf: Vivitar 28/2.8 (komine) is better than Vivitar 28/2.5 (kiron). The difference isn't breath-taking, but it has visibly sharper borders and less CA. _________________ (almost) complete list of Helios lenses |

+1
Although the MD options may still be the cheapest. I have no experience there.
Also you could try the Konica Hexanon AR 28mm.
They have risen in price but still are reasonable. Superb IQ from all the Hex lenses. Japanese Leica _________________ Moderator |

The Komine built Vivitar 28mm f2.8 Close Focus is kind of hard to beat for the price. They can be found on ebay for $30+/-....I paid for $32 for mine with a Nikon FG attached to it.
They are usually available in the standard fixed mount version or the RL Edition(both lens identical except for the RL Edition lettering in blue[the RL Edition was a marketing gimmick with an extended warranty].
Note the Komine serial # 28xxxxxx

Are you saying that the rokkor and vivitar 28's aren't good enough? I thought they were supposed to be excellent.
Wouldn't mind getting a konica (I already have the adapter) but they seem less abundant. _________________ Panasonic DMC-G1, DMC-GF1

Yep. Lost a couple bids on them in the last week...
They seem to be in higher demand. _________________ Panasonic DMC-G1, DMC-GF1

I noticed that lately...probably because of the ongoing Vivitar 28mm threads on the Pentax forums & elsewhere. _________________ Trust that little voice in your head that says "Wouldn't it be interesting if...." And then do it. |
