I have one in Canon FD fitting which I use on film - it's a far better lens than the price suggests. Whether it's "good enough" for your needs will depend on high strictly you judge image quality, but for me its creative capacity outweighs any lack of IQ relative to the Canon equivalent. I used to have a Canon and can say that there is a difference in sharpness and "punch", but it's not enough to worry me.

Thx!
I can buy it for about 100$ or 75 EU. It`s good price?
I`m looking fore something sharp at f/8; i don`t use wide angle a lot...

I think the asking price is too high for this Cosina. $120 buys you a brand new, in box MC Arsat-H 20/2.8 (Nikon mount). I haven't compared the two lenses myself, but given the Arsat is a much newer design, I would place my bet on the Ukrainian lens. (Still waiting for mine to show up from Ukraine).

Thx a lot.
What about Tokina 24mm 2.8?
And Yashica 28mm ML?

PostPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:32 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Try a Hoya 24/2.8 - about the same as a Tamron Adaptall 24/2.5, but a bit cheaper Wink

PostPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:34 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Thx;) but it`s sharp and contrasty?
I`m looking for something good

PostPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:45 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

In that case I'd suggest the Zeiss 25/2.8 or ML 24/2.8 as second choice, but you are talking $200-$800 then Wink

The Hoya and Tamron lenses are good performers, but certainly not the sharpest, although both are better than Vivitar/Tokina from my experience Smile

I used to have this Cosina lens (Nikon mount).
Generally, they are not too bad, but some seem to have issues.

You are living in Poland with bit luck you can catch locally a 20mm f4 Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon that is pretty unbeatable at F8 especially on this price level.

Pretty good lens. Especially fo the price. I had and used one for awhile. Some of them were made by Tokina, some by Cosina. Either version will serve you well. This snap won best of show at Mojave Desert comp. Made with the Cosina 19-20m f/3.8 glass).

I have a Tamron 24mm f/2.5, and I have been quite pleased with its performance. Shortly after I bought it, I posted a review of it here. Here's a link to my comparison between the Tamron 24mm and a Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 I also own. I found it to compare very favorably with the Nikkor.

Both my Nikon 24mm f2 and my Panagor (Kiron) 24mm f/2.5 have delivered superb results.

Yashica ML 21mm is supposedly very good. Unfortunately, this one is quite rare, and fetches high prices.

I have the Vivitar version for PK. It's OK about f/8, pretty soft open. Not a lot of resolution if you want to make large prints, but it is very compact and well made. Good street lens ..

And Yashica 28mm ML?

This is an excellent little lens. Can usually be found at modest cost, often far less than equivalent or inferior performers in other marques.

If you're looking at 20mm wides, you might keep an eye out for the 21mm ML, though prices have been increasing steadily on this one and it's getting harder to find. In my opinion it outperforms the 20mm Flektogon, which usually fetches even more.

The 24mm ML is a corker. I'd been looking for the Zeiss 25mm, and the Yashica stopped that search in its tracks. It's good enough that I'm no longer looking for the Zeiss.

I bought Yashica 28 and i recive faulty lens....so i`m one more time start searching Wink
Maybe Yashica 24mm ML is good but is expensive like Zeiss!
