hi... i just recently purchased a jupiter 8 with a m39 to m42 adaptor... after that wanted to try mounting it on my 400D with am m42 to eos adaptor but i found out that the focusing is totally off... any suggestions on how to make the jupiter 8 to work on my 400D other than getting the m39 - eos adaptor...

Jupiter-8 is rangefinder lens. It's designed for completely different register distance. It can be used as a close-up or macro lens on DSLR, but there's no way to use it as standard lens on DSLR camera.

Adapter won't change anything; this lens wasn't designed for DSLR camera, but for view-finder/range-finder cameras. Standard focusing range can be reached on micro-4/3 cameras like Panasonic G1, GH1, GF1 and Olympus E-P1, E-P2 or E-PL1. Also Samsung NX10 could accept it.

But you can always use it as close-up lens. Jupiter-3 a nd Jupiter-8 have nice bokeh Smile

Well, this is why we have a sticky here about lens/camera register length. It is always good to check that first.

It will work in principle if the lens register is greater or equal camera register
(more precise, if it leaves at least 1-2mm space for an adaptor)
