I guess this lens is qualified for here; it might be an AF lens, but it is a cheapie, and I think it is undervalued. Anyway, I am still very happy with the performance of this lens.

Unfortunately it's not possible to rate the quality of this lens from such small pictures, but for the price that I paid (about 100 euros), I can recommend it.

I own an EF 70-210mm f/4. I bought it 20 years ago. According to the date code, mine was built in late 1988.

This lens is a real sleeper. Not only does it have a constant f/4 aperture, but it has been rumored extensively that Canon included at least one low-dispersion glass element in its design.

My own experiences with this lens is that chromatic aberration is almost non-existent and that it is very sharp with good contrast even wide open at f/4. True, this is one of Canon's 1st generation EF zooms, and because of this, is a bit slow to focus -- but not really all that slow, honestly.

Mine's a keeper. I don't care that it's old, the photos I get with it are just too good to consider parting with it.

Nice examples! I think that your 70-210/4 is a direct copy of the earlier FD lens? The 70-210 f/3.5-4.5 that I have is of the same family as the 24-85 and 28-105. All of those (except the 28-135) can be found pretty cheap nowadays.

This is a 100% crop of a picture I made this morning (on a Canon 20D). Not bad for a budget lens:

Maybe I should buy a good 400mm sometime Smile

No matter the cheap price, if you're happy w<ith the rsults of your lens, well keep it Cool
The rendition here is more than good especially the colors of the 4 th 5th plus squirrel . I plan to buy a 75-300 EF lens, its cheap but for i expect to do with it'll be good enough.

A lot of people bad-mouth the EF 75-300, but I wonder honestly if they've ever tried it, or if they have, if they know how to deal with a 300mm focal length properly (high shutter speed or tripod).

I have an older version of the 75-300 -- bought new with an Elan IIe back in 1999 -- and at a recent air show, I found it took very sharp images. Good color and contrast too.

Canon XS with EF 75-300, ISO 100.
