i did get to look at 'em on the big laptop's screen. the walgreens housebrand 200 color cannot handle a full range of tones. in several shots exposed for an object, the sky - and it was overcast, not sunny - is washed out. i accidentally exposed the first six shots at asa 400 on the r's meter instead of asa 200. these look richer ...
the industar 50 50/3.5 does not like direct or bounced sun, either, but it pretty sharp edge to edge, from what i could see on the walgreens prints with a magnifying glass. AND, it seems it focuses exactly as it should, across a range of distance. this is a nice surpise, i think.
oh, that i could post samples ...

Another thing to look at if you are using Windows is the System Restore function. If something has broken a program then you can often restore the broken thing by just picking a restore date that predates your problem.
