Schneider Componon S Question

I have a Schneider Componon S 100/5.6 that was sold as an enlarger lens. However, it has a very odd mount size - thread 50mm approx (it is just a shade larger than 49mm). I cannot find any reference to it on the Schneider site, but I discover that they make and supply these lenses to outfits like Novoflex as well. Any ideas?

You got the version used by lab printers, the more common version is the one with M39 (Leica) thread mount
(which I use). BUT congrats to a very sharp lens of which the rumor goes, that Leitz used it remounted
and sold as their famous tack sharp FOCOTAR II 100mm - go check prices for that one (be seated please Wink ).

So after the bla bla what you might really be interested in, adapters:
http://www.schneiderkreuznach.com/industrieoptik_e/unifoc_zube/unifoc_zube.htm#Kameraadapter

and there is another one by Schneideroptics US:
Lens Adapter M50 to M39 P/N 21-017231 Price = $66 (ehemm, maybe you know someone with a lathe??)

Thank you all - I knew I could rely on this forum members.

poilu

How come I could not find it on their site? Thanks

Chris

You are quite right - very useful

Klaus

You really got to the heart of the matter. A M50 - M39 is fine since I have an M39 mount for my bellows

Thanks all

hi all

I have an earlier version of this lens - the schneider componon-s 135mm f5.6 - it appears it has an even smaller thread - 32mm or perhaps 32.5mm (maybe they use 32mm as shorthand for 32.5mm?)

At any rate, it seems nearly impossible to find an adapter ring for getting it to 39mm or even t-mount.

Is 32mm/32.5mm really that uncommon? Any tips much appreciated

Cheers

Brian

Yes, I know that problem well.

What are you using it on? If it's m42 mount bellows, one tip that I was given is to buy a camera body cap and cut a hole to mount the lens inside. Epoxy will hold it in place.

a nikon PB-4 bellows. I have all sorts of other adapters to 39mm, t-mount, 25mm but no 32mm Sad

Well, it is there "bvalente", very hard to find, since it is hidden at the Schneider site under "Adapters" Wink Wink

A drilled plastic body cap would work very well for 32mm

Not for 50mm unfortunately.

Amazing what is on the Internet - Seek and you shall find indeed !

http://www.nextphoto.net/8800.htm

"Step Down Ring 55mm to 50mm (Part # SD5550)

This is a 55mm to 50mm step down ring that can be used to mount the Nikon TC-E15ED lens to a 55mm threaded Lens. "

$20

So you would have this screwed on to the Componon, making it 55mm (male), 55mm is a common size. Then there would be some combination of reverse adapters or F-F gender changers that will get you to what you need.

Indeed there it is! Thank you very much. I would not have known "#0" equals 32.5mm

I'll report back on compatibility. just dropped schneider an order for this.

Cheers

Brian,

Another option is the Novoflex LEIEL adapter, 32 (,5?) to M39. Works fine with my Componon-S.

Dear all,
I registered to MFlenses just to put my bit in: The older El-nikkors with metal barrels and focal lengths 0f 80mm and 105mm were all shipped with a very nice, chrome-plated 32.5mm -> 39mm adapter, and virtually all the ones you see on Ebay still have it. Sometimes they sell for next to nothing that way.
Best regards,
Menno
