Kind of newbie to photography and MF lenses, almost the first serious posting here Smile Any comment and suggestion are welcome Very Happy

Walked out with CZJ 135/3.5 in the day to take some test shoot, and seen this around 12 o'clock Very Happy

A 200mm+ lens might do a better job, but just was surprised by the sharpness of this lens, and hand held.

And a bonus bird Very Happy

I was debating between this and the SuperTak 135 3.5 and decided on the latter. I'm not unhappy with my decision but I'm thinking I'd be happier with the CZJS. Laughing

No post processing or just light right?

Beautiful colors on the 2nd photo.

Thanks for the kind words. I have post work done on the photos, white balance, slight contrast and so on which were provided in the SPP(raw file processing software of Sigma Camera), no extra work is done in photoshop Very Happy

I am still learning how to adjust the color, but as long as the sharpness is concerned, the CZJ 135/3.5 is stunning to me, don't even need to increase sharpness in the software because it is already very sharp.

It's not expensive and pretty easy to find now, maybe you should get one and try it. Even if you don't like it, it is very easy to resell and maybe you could make some money Laughing

I'm new to photography as well, (and to this forum, this is my first post) and have recently discovered the older manual focus lenses.

I have the CZJ Sonnar 135mm 3.5 lens also, it was my first MF lens purchase.

I LOVE the photos it gives straight out of the camera, especially the richness of colours. I have PSE7 but don't really know how to use it properly, so I really appreciate lenses that produce nice results with little to no post processing.

Photos from the older MF lenses also have a dimensionality that I don't find in the digital lenses, at least the inexpensive consumer level lens that I can afford. And it amazes me at how little they cost, even compared to a cheap, plastsic DSLR lens. Great value for money!

Heartcat,
Welcome, what a coincidence! My first mf lens is also this one, maybe because its good reputation and affordable price is the most attractive factor for us to select it as the first mf lens Very Happy

For the post work, I think if we are comparing lenses, one should not touch anything related to the comparison, e.g. sharpness, contrast.....but for the "normal" purpose, I think post work is also a part of photography. It's a advantage of shooting in digital, isn't it? Whatever, it is just personal taste Smile

Cheers,
Wei

Oh I agree, Wei! I have nothing against post processing!

It's just that 'I' am unskilled at using any kind of photoshop software so the better my photos are straight out of the camera, the better it is for me.

I'd love to be able to use my PSE7 to enhance my photos. It's just that I lack the ability. Embarassed

It's a great lens to start with. I bought the CZJ 135mm & an Oly 28mm as my 1st 2 lenses.
