Shots were mainly wide open, but a couple were F8 (I can't remember which).

Thanks for the comments.
This Robin was very friendly and seemed to be waiting for food. The pics haven't been cropped as there were times I could have reached out and touched him he was so close. Initially I was testing my lightmeter against my camera and he landed by my feet. As I wasn't moving a great deal I guessed that he hadn't realised I was there so I stood still to watch him for a bit, until I became brave enough to lift the camera.
40D with 200iso all handheld. The only PP was default sharpening, CA removal and a slight tweak of the vibrance slider. Contrast was untouched. _________________ Casual attendance these days |

Martin, your shots are always very good. These are in the
category of amazing! You could have paid THREE TIMES as much
for the lens and still had a bargain - the Tamron SP lines sure does
produce some wonderful glass in some of their lenses.
I know what you mean - you don't want to move, but know you HAVE
to move to try to get a shot without having the critter flit away. I guess
it's all part of the serendipity of photography. In this case, you scored...
big time!
You've got to be immensely pleased with your purchase.
edit: It came to mind how utterly CRISP the focus is....I mean it's
right on the money. Do you ever have a problem focusing? Do you
have a split screen, or some other focusing venue? _________________

Thanks for your kind comments Laurence. I'm very pleased with the results today and these photos were probably some of my best work.
I used the Canon EF-S screen. I do have a split screen, but I find the matte on the Canon screen much better for focusing on any image which doesn't have hard edges, especially people & animals. It's always easier when the light was as good as it was today. _________________ Casual attendance these days |
