This is the original Luna Pro. It is in excellent condition. If you are unfamiliar with this light meter, you can see the owner's manual here:
http://www.butkus.org/chinon/flashes_meters/gossen_luna-pro/gossen_luna-pro.htm
It is designed to run on 1.35v mercury button batteries that are no longer available in the United States. Adapters are available here: http://www.cris-store.com/servlet/the-5/MR9-MR-dsh-9-Mercury-Battery/Detail.
Although I have not tested it with the proper voltage batteries, I have had it inspected by a local repair shop, who assure me that, with the proper voltage, it should function normally. I have tested it with modern batteries of a slightly higher voltage and it functions, but reads a bit "hot." My repair shop ( http://bdccamerarepair.com ) tells me they can also modify the unit to accept higher voltage batteries without an adapter for approximately $US 100.
I have found some other metering solutions, so have decided to sell it rather than invest additional money in getting it to work as originally intended.
$US 75, plus actual shipping costs, or best offer. I'm willing to ship it anywhere, by any method you choose. PayPal, money order or cashier's check OK.
E-mail if interested. _________________ Camera bodies: Pentax K-X DSLR; Pentax K1000, Praktica MTL-5, JVC GYHD100 HD video camera

$100 for soldering a $0.30 diode in serial with the battery terminal, in a device with lots of internal space? They must be kidding - even adapters with a SMD diode in them are only about $20 ... _________________ Sevo |

Well... the adapters I've seen are $32 apiece and you'll need two of them (one for each battery). So $64 vs. $100...
I can't solder for crud, so I'd still like to sell this if I can. _________________ Camera bodies: Pentax K-X DSLR; Pentax K1000, Praktica MTL-5, JVC GYHD100 HD video camera

I am using two kind of cheaper method than expensive adapter.
1) Hearing aid batteries available almost everywhere and cheap , but need to replace them every two months. (It's start to cheating after ...)
2) Simple alkaline battery and read scale at different position , not fully tested yet , but seems works. _________________ -------------------------------

I've got one & use Zinc air Hearing Aid cells in them (with shell adapters. Mine cost a lot less on eBay & is accurate as well. Plus I also have the "European" version ...Same as the "Pro", just called a different name. As with the aforementioned, I use Zinc air cells... You can get the battery adapters from Gossen still at a lot less cost....I really should sell one of mine as I also have a Sekonic Studio Deluxe...Good luck selling it! _________________ Cameras-Nikon D300, D7100,D610,FE2,FTN ,FT2,N90s, Olympus Pen EP-3 & Olympus OM-D E-M10

Stick to the hearing aid cells Attila as I believe they have a similar discharge curve to mercury in that they maintain a steady voltage that drops off steeply when the cell is spent.
Alkaline discharge rate is different in that the voltage starts to drop as soon as you use the cell so you'll find that the pointer position will very likely vary as the cell discharges.
It will be correct when the cell reaches 1.35v but not either side and unless you're measuring the cell voltage, you won't really know when that is. Perhaps OK for a quick meter test but not good for exposure consistency.
The last price I saw for the proper Gossen battery adapter for the Lunasix 3 was around 20GBP - expensive for what it is, yes, but it comes with two SR44 batteries and is a straight drop-in replacement that works without any faffing around.
And if you only have one Lunasix 3 meter, you only need one adapter... |

Guys,
You can always buy some Wein Cell 1.35v MRB625 (Zinc-Air) which are a 100% replacement(mercury-free) for older Mercuric Oxide cells (the PX625 and PX13) and your Gossen, like mine, will work correctly with no modifications or adapters ...
Two Wein Cells cost around 5 euros in ebay and they last for more than a year ... _________________ Canon EOS 5D MkII , EOS 50E, Contax RTS, Olympus OM2n, Nikon Z6ii

Or you can use SR-44 (silver oxide) instead of LR-44 (alkaline), as silver oxide batteries have a similar discharge curve to mercury cells. Then either add a diode to drop voltage, or manually compensate the reading. |
