I just got some "new" lenses, Nikkor 50mm Ai f/1.4; Micro Nikkor Ai 55mm f/3.5; Nikkor H 85mm f/1.8; Nikkor Q 135mm f/2.8, Nikon Series E 75~150mm f/3.5 and a SMC Takumar 55mm f/1.8. They need some cleanig. It was the first photo with tha 50mm. Made at home, available light (incandecent) hand held at 1.4. I guess it will be a serious competitor of my dear Tak 50mm 1.4.

I ordered a BGN one to try on my 5D2. Unfortunately, the Takumar 50/1.4 won't work on full-frame Canons, so this Nikkor seems a worthy contender. On the other hand, the Nikkor 50/1.8 is superb, easily on par with the Takumar 55/2; hope the 1.4 version is just as good.

The 1.4 is better.

My 50/1.4 AIs is a nice performer on my Canon XS (1000D). I don't have a similar Takumar to compare it to, but I think you'll like it.

By the way, that was a very nice collection you picked up. I think you'll be quite happy with all of them.

Congratulations - you got an excellent bunch of lenses!

aoleg,
I hope too. I will try to compare the tak and the nik 1.4 this weekend, if the weather permits.

Thank you. Long time I was looking for mf Nikon mount lens. It was a bargain, all the stuff cost me US$120. I knew a guy that sell old photographic equipment. He bought from Newspaper, and magazines companies. He has a lot of equipment.

I agree on the 50/1.4 AI-S taking down the 50/1.8 AI-S.

I have the 50/1.2 AI-S, 50/1.4 AI-S, 50/1.8 AI-S, 50/1.4D AF and 50/1.4G AF-S, and I've compared them more than I probably should have Laughing

3 excellent lenses as well. You'll be amazed how well the 85/1.8 and especially 135/2.8 behave wide open.

Great acquisition. You´ll be surprised, how often you are going to use the 55mm F3,5!

Please do and post some results; I'd especially be interested in seeing how the bokeh differs.

Hi Arkku, I'll do it.

Great Buy! I have also been considering a 1.4/50.
I think you will also like the Nikkor H 1.8/85 a lot. It's one of my favourites and I use it a lot.
It's a rather flare sensitive so it's a good idea to keep the hood on.

Thank you Sven. I will try the 105mm or 55mm original hoods that I have. If don't work I'll look for a 85mm one.

+1 to that, especially the 135/2.8. My best portraits in 35mm were taken with that lens.

I use the Nikon HN7 (all metal) to my 85. It came with the lens but I'm not sure if it's the original hood. Seems to work though.

The original one is the HN-7.

Later came the HN-23 for the 62mm filter threads of the 85mm AF-Nikkors which are extremely good, btw. It has been slightly changed over the years, but its construction and shape has remained the same. By the way, this hood is a great option for people using the 28-105 AF-Nikkor with a DX camera!
