There are currently five Tamron 300mm f/2.8s on eBay right now. One of the early white ones, two of the late dark gray ones, and the others are the drab-green ones. I owned one of the drab-green ones years ago, and it was the finest long telephoto I've ever owned.

I'm too poor right now to bid on any, but I'll pass along an observation. The last time I saw several Tamron 300/2.8s on eBay at the same time, buyer exhaustion had set in by the time the last auction closed, and it sold for about $450.

Hmmm, thanks for the tip, just the lens to go with my recently bought adaptall 2 Pentax adapter, looks like I'll be sifting through the Tamron listings to find them all.

No contact points on the adapter MoFo, which makes it a K I suppose but that is not a problem to me.

I thought you might have been the successful bidder on one of the 2 that were on the bay recently...one went for $74

$30 was what I paid for mine and he was in Melbourne so the postage was bugger all. I was surprised it went so cheap.

Sorry, forgot to mention that it was US eBay.

And another thing, this time of year, people are spending their disposable income on Christmas gifts, not feeding their GAS habit . . . er, well, *ahem* most people. Embarassed

So the bidding might not be all that aggressive on these cool lenses.

I think you are right about people not spending...4 tamron 2 adapters went without a bid for $5 and $10 postage and I missed it as I was out and forgot about it... Rolling Eyes

Out of curiousity, what is considered a fair price for the Tamron 300mm f2.8?

In the past several months of watching them somewhat casually, I'd say somewhere in the $800-900 range. You can do a "completed listings" search on eBay to see what they've sold for in the recent past.

It's worth noting that the lens originally came with a case, hood, and 1.4x TC -- or at least my 60B did.

Congrats! I'm envious. Please post some example pics once you've had a chance to use it.

Price was $475, expect samples in the New Year as US deliveries to Oz are exceptionally slow. It was an Adorama item listed on Ebay.
